Weather Plan

Trier in the Rain

When the weather doesn't cooperate, here's a Trier plan entirely under cover, without giving up on UNESCO.

Step 1

Morning: the Museum Axis

The Rheinisches Landesmuseum (2 hours) as the main course. Then the Museum am Dom with the cathedral treasury, a short walk away and also indoors.

Step 2

Lunch: Schlemmereule or Domstein

Both are right in the city center, with covered walking routes and a lovely atmosphere of daylight filtering through glass roofs.

Step 3

Afternoon: Konstantinbasilika and Liebfrauenkirche

The Konstantinbasilika (a huge hall, almost empty on rainy days, an acoustic experience in itself). Then through the covered cathedral cloister into the Liebfrauenkirche. Afterwards, coffee at Cafe am Dom.

Step 4

Evening: the Wine Bar

When evening rolls around: Weinstube Kesselstatt or a Strausswirtschaft (a seasonal winegrower's tavern) in Olewig. Both are indoor, and both are unmistakably Moselle.
