Family
Trier with Kids
How Trier works with school-age children and teenagers, without losing them in front of stone reliefs.
Step 1
Gladiator Tour at the Amphitheater
The Roman experience tour with a costumed guide is Trier's family highlight. Book through the Trier tourist info. Works from primary-school age and keeps teenagers engaged too.
Step 2
Toy Museum on the Hauptmarkt
Three floors of dollhouses, model trains, and Game Boys. Works from kindergarten age, and for parents it's a nostalgic walk-through. Right on the Hauptmarkt and easy to combine with ice cream.
Step 3
Petrisberg Lift and Playground
Take the panoramic lift on Karl-Marx-Strasse up to the Petrisberg for views over the Moselle, the city, and the Hunsrueck hills. There's a huge playground, water gardens, and picnic lawns up top.
Step 4
The Roman Experience Bus
In summer an open-top double-decker runs with a costumed Roman guide. The route covers the Porta, the Amphitheater, the Kaiserthermen, and the Roemerbruecke. Book at the tourist info stand next to the Porta Nigra.
